Gorran Movement: sentencing five activists of Badinan is an inappropriate experience of authority against activists

To support activists of Badinan, Gorran Movement released a statement and said: by politicizing the statues of courts and justice, Kurdistan region circumstance go towards crisis and escalation, recently and currently we have supported the independence of judiciary and have been defender of freedom of opinion.

The detail of the statement:

Regarding to the case arrested activists of Badinan, we inform all sides that the sentencing decision against five activists of Badinan according to the law number 21 of 2003, on charges of attempting to sabotage national security, is an inappropriate step of authority against activists of Badinan.

Legally, the accusations that used against those activists doesn’t coherent with types of their sentences, so we see that step as a dangerous message against the sovereignty of law and general freedoms, especially against citizen’s movement and activists.

We, as Gorran Movement, again reaffirmed that politicizing the statues of courts and justice, lead the Kurdistan Region circumstances towards crisis and chaos, we have recently supported the independence of judiciary and we have been the defender of the freedom of opinion.

This our believe actually reflex on our political steps, as the head of Gorran bloc in the Kurdistan Parliament and members attended during the trial of the activists in Erbil and they have supported the sovereignty of law.
