As recount looms Iraq vice president calls for strict action against forgers

Stressing on Judiciarys decision to recount the ballot papers, Iraqi VP Ayad Allawi on Friday called on the authorities to take strict legal action against those guilty of forging results in the recently conducted Parliamentary elections.

“Authorities must take legal action against the forgers and their affiliates,” said Allawi, adding that this recounting situation is, “severe blow to the will of corrupt”.
According to the results counted last month, the Iraqi electoral alliance Saeroon, came in first place securing 54 seats out of a total 329 seats.
The Iraqi electoral alliance Saeroon is supported by the leader of the Sadrist Movement Muqtada Al-Sadr. Second place was secured by the Fatah Alliance led by Hadi Al-Ameri.
Al-Nasr Coalition, led by the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, came in the third place with 42 seats.
State of Law Coalition, led by Al-Abadis predecessor Nouri Al-Maliki came in fourth position.
